My Upcoming Travels

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well!

Stuck in my office and looking at threateninig clouds through the windows the other day, I thought I would update you on my travel future travel plans (a way for you to know what to expect on the blog and for me to get even more excited!).

As you’ve probably noticed, up to now, most of the articles I have written were about trips I’d taken in the past or cities that I have lived in – quite a bit of a challenge for my memory… But when I started this blog, what first came to my mind at first was the exciting summer I had planned.

Here’s an idea of the things I have coming up next and will be keeping you posted on in my articles!

End of June: My first solo trip to Chiloe, Chile

Taking advantage on LATAM’s incredible Cyber days this week, I booked a return flight to Puerto Montt at the end of June, with the objective of discovering Chiloe. I’ve really been drawn to this island since my landing in Chile, it seems like a mysterious place, stuck in the past, with a history of legends and witchcraft… a complete break from Santiago!

I’m not 100% sure this will be the case yet, but I really fancy taking this trip by myself so for now, planning on going solo! Have you ever travelled by yourselves?

Planned Itinerary: Puerto Montt – Ancud – Dalquehue – Achao – Dalquehue – Tenaún – Castro – Puerto Montt.

August: backpacking through Chile, Bolivia and Peru with my boyfriend

This trip has been keeping cheerful and excited since my arrival in Chile, because no matter how hard it is to be away from my boyfriend for a full 6 months, I know that we are going to share our greatest adventure at the end of my time here. Planning this has really helped me keeping my head up in times where I’ve felt down. I really wanted to explore Bolivia, it’s a country I felt more drawn to the more I learnt about it. For this reason, this is where we’ll be spending most of our time. But we’ve also branched out to Peru, jumping on the opportunity to see the Machu Pichhu and Cuzco and we will also be ending the trip in the North of Chile, enjoying the Atacama desert and the beach before going our separate ways again.

Planned Itinerary: Santiago de Chile – La Paz – Copacobana (Lake Titicaca) – Cuzco – Machu Picchu – La Paz – Rurrenabaque (Amazon Jungle) – Uyuni Salt flats – San Pedro de Atacama – Iquique

This is also going to be my first actual “backpacking” trip as we’re planning on only taking a bag each for almost a month of travelling… I’ve never packed for something like this before so all tips are welcomed! 🙂

Early September: a classic US road trip with my sister

Being away this year has meant it’s been even harder than usual to be able to see my sister, who lives in Chicago. When I told her I would come home in late August, we realized that by this time, she would have to be back in Chicago to start her academic year…

Sooo, we thought it’d be a great idea for me to stop there “on my way home” and I will be flying there on the 29 of August, as my boyfriend heads back to England.

My sister and I both got our driving licenses last summer so we were thinking of travelling the US the classic way: taking a roadtrip!

We thought of 2 options so far: driving down route 66 from Chicago all the way to California, or driving down to New Orleans, Louisiana. We’ve both been so busy recently that we couldn’t properly look into but I’m really looking forwards to it. Have you guys got any suggestions?

I’d really love to visit California and the Grand Canyon.

Mid-September: coming home after 8 months away

On September 14th, I’ll be touching down in France and staying with my family who I haven’t seen since Christmas. I’ll try to write more articles on my hometown of Bordeaux but am also hoping to let you know about a few more places as I see the rest of my family.

During the two weeks I’ll be there; I’m hoping to go to the beach and to the South West, to see my grandparents.

And I already know what food I want for when I get home haha! (Sometimes, I really miss French food!)

Finally, it will be time for me to head back to Bath, in England; and to start my final year at university and put an end to my year abroad life. That’s still very far though 😉
